Pre-Reading

1. If the U.S. is at war when you graduate, would you enlist? Why or why not?
If the U.S.A. engaged in a war by the time i graduate, i would not enlist in any branch of military. I feel this way becasue, the U.S.A. tries to be the "police" of the world and sticks thier nose in places it doesn't belong. But that is not my only reason for refuting the cause. I also do not want to die and i want to experience life in a peaceful manner.

2. What is your definition of a hero? Who is your hero and why? Give specific reasons.
My definition of a hero is someone who isn't affraid of failure and will continue to work until success. Someone who doesn't care what others think and does what he or she feels is right. Also someone who doesn't think they are better than anyone esle and always look at making every situation better for everyone. My hero is.... i do not have a hero becasue i haven't found someone who fits my definition of my hero yet.

3. What effect does sharing a tragic event with someone have on a relationship?
Well there are many different effects that could happen sharing a tragic event with someone, relationship wise. For example, it could make one closer to one another, it could seperate each other, and it can do everything in between. Sharing a tragic event with someone can definatley change the way one looks at things in the world.

4. What do you know about the Vietnam War?
I, Aaron Anthony Sigmund Chelchowski know very little about the Vietnam War. I know NV and SV was split on the 17th parallel. We supported the SV and fought the NV. I believe General Macarthur from WWII was in this war as well but was removed from military power after he threated to blow up NV. We "lost" the war because of unknown terrain and didnt know who we werer fighting. Nixon got the U.S. out of vietnam with the plan of Vietnamization. The war started because the U.S. tried to stop the spread of communism and felt like it was becoming a Domino Effect. Tet Offensive and there is probably more i know but i want to do my definitions now.
